From Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, 16 donors gave Byron Donalds’ PAC $100,000 or more each, $3,575,000 in all; Big Sugar, GOPAC and the auto-insurance agency wrote $1,250,000 of it (Division of Elections; our sums). Then the state’s Oct. 9 matching-funds distribution sent Democrat David Jolly six times what it sent Donalds (Florida Department of State; our arithmetic).

Byron Donalds, the Republican nominee for governor, took 16 checks of $100,000 or more into his political committee in the four days from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, $3,575,000 in all, from donors including GOPAC, U.S. Sugar’s PAC, the Florida Chamber of Commerce Alliance, Associated Industries of Florida, Mosaic and a Miami Gardens auto-insurance agency that wrote $500,000 (Division of Elections; our sum).
